Many couples marry in their own local church, but we understand that Barrowby church
may be special to you even if you don’t live in the parish. Changes in the law in
2008 made it easier to get married in a parish church if you can show just one of
the following connections:
Either of you were baptised or prepared for confirmation in the parish.
Either of you has ever lived in the parish for six months or more.
Either of you has at any time regularly attended public worship in the parish for
six months or more
Either of your parents has lived in the parish for six months or more in their child’s
Ether of your parents has regularly attended public worship there for six months
or more in their child’s lifetime
Either of your parents or grandparents were married in the parish.
