Remembrance at Barrowby

There are lots of events happening around the village to commemorate the end of the
1st World War.

World War 1 Centenary Sing Along Concert

Come along and join in with singing well known songs from WW1.

Bell Ringing for Armistice

Barrowby Bell Ringers will be ringing on muffled bells for the Service of remembrance on 11 November They will also be ringing on unmuffled bells at 12.30pm to coincide with the national parades that are happening.

Beacons of Light

Barrowby Parish Council are taking part in the Beacons of Light Project are hoping to light a beacon in the Parish Burial Ground at 7pm on 11 November so that it will be seen over the Vale of Belvoir.

Poppies, Poppies, Poppies

Over remembrance weekend in Church there will be displays of knitted and crocheted poppies made by members of our congregation. There will be banners on the pillars and a “waterfall” of poppies cascading over the pulpit.


We will also be selling some of the poppies to raise funds for the Royal British Legion.


There will a Barrowby’s own Field of Poppies display of handcrafted poppies outside the Reading Room.

There But Not There

Due to the generosity of the Armed Forces Covenant Fund we have been awarded funding for 10 Perspex Silhouettes to allow us to take part in the There But Not There project to help bring communities and veterans together to remember the fallen.

These will be displayed in Church over Remembrance weekend
